7 weeks down....

Oh my! Oh my!  First graders are funny.  No wait...they are HILARIOUS!  There are so many funny things that they say and do.

* One day we were talking about things that we want to learn how to do.  There were some awesome answers like: "I want to learn how to cook", "I want to learn how to drive a car", and "I want to learn how to be a teacher" (oh they get me everytime with that).  And then there was this..... "I want to learn how to kiss girls."  Of course I had to just move on.  Thankfully, no one really laughed or made comments about it.  But in my head I am thinking?  WHAT?! You are 6 years old.  You shouldn't think about that.

* The same boy has a couple of girls who have a HUGE crush on him.  It's completely obvious.  I think they like to pretend that there is nothing going on.  Well- today the kids were watching their sight word video (which they LOVE and beg for all the time).  While I was walking around making sure kids were participating, and handing out golden tickets to some....I saw in the corner of my eye the kissy boy and one of my other girls linking arms and holding hands.  So...I sat down at the desk behind them and she immediately moved her arms and hands back into her lap.  Oh- she thought she was so sneaky.  Tomorrow we will be having an interesting chat.  Oh little first graders....you are so cute and funny.

* On Friday, one of my little girls chose her reward to be show & tell.  She told me yesterday that she wants to do the cup song for us tomorrow.  Well- today she did just that.  She sang the cup song.  With no cups.  And it was adorable.  She did an awesome job!

* I have a little boy who write some pretty funny journals.  Today's was pretty great....the kids were writing about why it is good to be on a team.  We talked yesterday about all of the reasons: to help each other, to win the game, to make it easier, etc.  Well....this boy did this:

What is looks like.... "I can were p'ecm porn"
What he told me it said.... "I can work with a partner."

Yes- "porn" is partner.
Oh first graders.

* One day we were going over words that started with "cr-", "gr-", "tr-", "dr-", "fr-", and "br-".  In our small groups one of my students tells me that she likes crab.  Another student says- My dad likes crack.  I said....Oh do you mean crab?  He responds with.... "Yeah, that!"  I just giggled inside.

* A couple of weeks ago my students were having a hard time keeping their bodily functions inside.  So we had to have a little talk about that.

Tomorrow is the last day of school for the week.  Thursday starts fall break.  Which means five.  Yes 5 days off of school.  This will be a much needed 5 days from my little kiddos.

More funny first grade moments to come.

Blake turns 24

Happy birthday to my wonderful husband {yesterday}. 24. To celebrate I surprised him with getting a pedicure. He took me to do something I've never done for my birthday, so I decided to take him to do something he has never done for his birthday. I think he really enjoyed it deep down inside. After we went to get sushi. Well he got sushi. I got a teriyaki chicken bowl. I surprised him again with friends meeting us for lunch. And then we met up with friends later that evening. Of course we sang to Blake with candles in a delicious spice cake iced with cream cheese frosting. No other way to do it! So glad I get to celebrate birthdays with my sweetheart. I can't wait for many more celebrations to come. I love you Blake!

Babies.

Aren't they the cutest? I just love them so much.

Kenley comes to visit all of us in utah this week. It's been too long since I have seen here.

I love these babies!

Ice cold what?

Since Friday morning we have had a broken water heater. It's awful! This means....ABSOLUTELY NO HOT WATER!! How does one survive? Well....a great sister and friends. I took one cold shower. Freezing cold. I don't recommend it to anyone. Blake is more used to it than I am because of his mission. I didn't do so well with a freezing shower. Thank you to those who let me bum off them. Good news though....a handyman finally came to look at it tonight. He said there is definitely something wrong with our water heater. Thanks handyman. Now please fix it. I would really appreciate that.

First weeks of school

Sometimes I still can't believe I am a teacher. My own 24 students. My own classroom. I am a teacher! It's such a great career. I look forward to seeing my kids everyday. Even though they can drive me crazy sometimes. I really do adore them. I hope they like me too. Being a teacher is such a rewarding job. Even though its only been 9 school days- I can see it already. I can't wait to see where my kids are at the end of the school year. One of my favorite parts is when my students say they love coming to class and they like their teacher. You don't hear that all the time. Some days are long and hard, but I always think of how great my job really is. The long hours don't matter when it comes down to helping my students learn and have a good time. I love being a school teacher.

Still celebrating...

The Nuttalls treated me to lunch at kneaders and then swimming fun at the Lindon pool. We had a blast. And the girls treated me like a queen for my birthday. I am truly blessed to have them in my life!

Twenty3

Yesterday was such a great day.  7peaks with my sisters and the babies and lunch.
And then I came home to this.....

and this.....

(So excited to put these in my classroom.)

And this is when the best part of the day starts.....so please bear with my story.  It really is quite entertaining.

Blake gave me a card that had a QR code I needed to scan. So after I opened the children's books and roses that he gave me, I used my hand dandy scanner on my phone and scanned away. I was taken to a website that read “pagoda piercing”. I cried. I was so scared. But I knew I couldn't turn him down. I knew I had to face my fears and get my ears pierced. On the way to the place I read one of my new books.  I had 30 minutes to stress about what was going to happen.  After I chatted with the ladies for a bit (and let them know how scared I was), it was that time...
(Don't let this look be deceiving....I was really laughing because I was so scared.)

(Notice the stuffed animals, sucker, and the huge grin on Blake's face.)

It didn't hurt that bad. It felt like I was being pinched. And that started to hurt me. Not bad though. Next thing I knew I was starting to feel nauseous. My body felt like it was sweating all over.  All I could see was black and things spinning. I passed out for about a minute. Blake was trying to talk to me and keep me sitting up straight. I couldn't.  After I felt good enough to stand up (like 5 minutes later) I saw a nail salon and asked Blake if I could get my nails done. He was a sweetheart and said yes. So I now had some pretty nails and my ears bejeweled. Lucky me.

(I was such a trooper, so Blake let me get a manicure.)

(I LOVE them!)

But that wasn't it. He took me to Ztejas in SLC to eat dinner. And then we went shopping.
I am truly grateful for all of my friends and family.  I felt so special yesterday.
It was definitely a birthday that I will NEVER forget.  Truly memorable.
So happy Blake made me do this.

Aunt Emily & Uncle Blake

Finnegan was born on March 28, 2013.  He is such a precious little boy.  We all fell in love with him right away.  And you will see why....
(Right after Finn was born.)

(Look at those smiles.)

And if having Finn join our family....then came Kenley.  And we all fell in love with her also, of course.  She is such a beautiful little girl.

(Such a little beauty.)

(Check out those face she makes.)

We are so happy to have these two little ones in the Kendrick family now.  And here are a few other pictures that I just love....

My Best Friends Weddings.

I recently had the honor of attending my best friends weddings.
Blake and I were able to go to Salt Lake City for one of my old roommates weddings.

Such a beautiful bride inside and out.
Congrats Em!

A few weeks later I was able to fly home for another best friends wedding.

Such a crazy & adorable couple.
And a beautiful day.
Congrats Mae!

Love you both tons.

Best Year of My Life!

A few weeks ago Blake and I celebrated our ONE YEAR anniversary.  We've had a lot going on with prepping for my new job, blake working, trips home, etc.  So, we celebrated our one year by going to Spaghetti Factory and watching a movie at home.  It was just perfect.  All we needed was to spend some quality time together.
And because I just love looking at our wedding pictures, I will share some with you...

I am so grateful to have such a wonderful husband.  He is a goofy, handsome, lovable, supportive, hilarious man whom I adore.  The last year of marriage has been spectacular, and I am looking forward to many more.  I love you Blake!

Happy.

9 months of marriage.  And I still could not be any happier being married to this man. The love of my life.  The man of my dreams.  My Prince Charming.  My main squeeze.  My best friend.
I love you Blake!

Weddings.

Two of my best and closest friends are getting married soon!  I love weddings! I love seeing how happy the newlywed couple is.  It just reminds me back to mine (9 months ago).  Such a special time.  And I feel honored to be a part of both of these weddings soon.  Love you both!

Friends.

I have been blessed to be in a cohort of 23 amazing women who have become some of my closest friends.  They know basically everything about me.  I could not have made it through these last three semester without them.  So ladies.....THANK YOU! You all rock :)
